Insulspan, the premier supplier of high performance structural insulated panels (SIPs) for use as walls, roofs, and floors in residential and commercial structures, is seeking a Structural Engineer / Design Manager to add knowledge and expertise to our organization. This position will be located in our head office in southeast Michigan.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage team of SIP designers
  • Review (and potentially stamp) SIP drawings
  • Educate and train internal design team on engineering requirements
  • Answer questions from customers, designers, and sales staff regarding SIP design and installation
  • Maintain Insulspan’s code listing reports and relationship with the evaluation service
  • Maintain and update Insulspan’s Technical Manual
  • Evaluate and recommend options for expanding Insulspan’s testing data and code listings
  • Learn and develop an intimate knowledge of hsbCAD software to troubleshoot issues and enhance the program to improve the designer’s efficiency

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Architectural, or Mechanical Engineering
  • PE License in at least one state preferred
  • Ability to obtain PE License in additional states
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in engineering residential and/or commercial buildings
  • Knowledge of the SIP industry or expertise in energy efficiency and building codes is a plus
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity
  • Excellent organizational, decision making, and problem solving skills
  • Strong computer skills including AutoCAD
  • Some travel may be required, including travel to Canada

Insulspan, the premier supplier of high performance structural insulated panels (SIPs) for use as walls, roofs, and floors in residential and commercial structures, is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Representative to lead revenue growth in the coming years. This position will be based out of our head office in southeast Michigan.

Insulspan – a part of Calgary-based PFB Corporation, has experienced double digit growth and is perfectly positioned to continue to take advantage of the expected enormous growth in the energy efficient building products sector. Our high-quality SIPs are precision made in two factories, located in Michigan and British Columbia and shipped to a growing customer base across the United States and Canada.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITY

Actively participate in the development and growth of commercial sales through strategic targeting of the commercial market.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research target demographics, economic trends, customer needs and interests and other data that can be used in creating strategies for business development
  • Oversee efforts to expand lead generation through cold calling, business-to-business selling and other methods to identify potential business prospects and assist sales professionals in acquiring new customers
  • Present sales pitches, product reports and other valuable data to potential prospects in a way that promotes the company brand and mission and helps the audience identify a need for the product
  • Study each product offered by the company and be able to persuasively educate and inform customers of how each works and its specifications
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, meetings, and conversations with customers in the Customer Record Management system
  • Schedule and lead lunch-and-learns with architects, engineers, & developers

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • 2+ years of work-related experience and/or Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field
  • Knowledge of the construction industry required
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and building specifications
  • High level of professionalism and integrity
  • Excellent organizational, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Self-directed, able to work independently and as part of a team
  • High energy and intense drive to succeed
  • Excellent communication skills including public speaking
  • Experience in business-to-business selling
  • Significant travel will be required within a 250-mile radius of the Blissfield, MI office including site and installation assistance.
