Insulspan offers both White EPS and Grey GPS insulation solutions for our SIP products. Both options are rigid, closed-cell, plastic foam comprised of hollow, spherical beads fused together using steam. While our standard EPS panels provide excellent efficiency, our R-Plus panels can increase overall R-values up to 20%.
Insulspan’s standard SIPs are comprised of EPS insulation cores with oriented strand board (OSB) skins.
You may recall from high school science class that there are three ways that energy can be transferred: conduction (via solids), convection (via air or water), and radiation (via electromagnetic waves). Insulspan EPS SIPs are very good at addressing energy transfer via conduction and convection.
Insulspan’s graphite-enhanced expanded polystyrene (GPS) insulation is easily recognizable by its grey color tone. GPS features a core of expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation manufactured using a graphite-enhanced raw material.
In addition to providing resistance to energy transfer from convection and conduction, the addition of graphite to our EPS insulation adds a direct resistance to radiant heat transfer.
